AAA is predicting a record number of people who are expected to travel during the upcoming July 4th weekend. In Connecticut AAA is predicting almost 664,000 residents will travel 50 miles or more from home, which would be the highest on record. 50.7 million Americans are expected to travel.
A Lisbon man was arrested in connection to a crash that killed 31 year old Jonathan Fowler in Lisbon in September 2022. Officers say 75 year old Randall Baah has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle. Fowler was riding a motorcycle on Route 12 when Baah pulled out of a gas station striking and killing Fowler. Baah faces up to 3 years in prison.
A Waterford pleaded no contest to charges connected to secretly recording people in his own bathroom during his appearance in court yesterday. 54 year old Keith Hancock was charged with five counts of voyeurism and is expected to be sentenced to two years in prison as part of a plea agreement.
Police have identified the man who was killed after a head on crash in Griswold yesterday morning. Officers say that 73 year old Zenon Zawadzki of Griswold was killed after two cars collided on Route 138. The other driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee recently signed a bill into law that bans restaurants from using Styrofoam takeout containers and plastic stirrers. Those who supported the legislation says foam containers and plastic stirrers are not cost-effective to recycle and can endanger wildlife.
