A former CNN television producer from Connecticut who had pleaded guilty to luring a 9-year-old girl into illegal sexual acts was sentenced yesterday to more than 19 years in prison and an additional 15 years of supervised release during a U.S. District Court hearing in Vermont. John Griffin pleaded guilty to charges in federal court in December.
The man who stabbed 63 year old Robert Praise to death in 2018 was sentenced to 65 years in prison. 47 year old Christopher Petteway was in court yesterday. He was given 60 years for murder and another five years for violating a protective order.
State police are looking to identify the suspect who is accused of stealing from the Runnings Store at 44 Providence Pike on June 13th. Officers say that the suspect fled the area before police arrived at the scene. Anyone with information on the larceny is asked to call police.
Work zone cameras have been added to I-95 in East Lyme where crews are widening the road and making it safer for drivers. Near the I-395 interchange, there is a white van parked with cameras on it that takes a photo of the license plates of cars going by it. Offenders will receive a warning by mail and then ticketed for a second offense.
Yesterday The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office announced updated charges against the alleged driver in a drunk-driving crash on Route 116 that killed one of his passengers and seriously injured another. 25 year old Christopher Vincent Massachusetts, now faces several felony counts out of Providence Superior Court including driving under the influence resulting in death.
