Montville police arrested a man who allegedly fired multiple shots from a gun from the window of a car in the area of Sunny Hill Drive and Fort Shantok Road. Officers say 26 year old Peter Guiterrez turned himself into police Saturday morning and is facing multiple charges. No injuries were reported.
Police charged a man yesterday in connection to setting two fires last month in buildings and railroad ties on New Wharf Road at Norwich Harbor. 69 year old Paul Graziani is facing multiple charges including arson in connection to the cases. He is being held on $100,000 bond and is due in court July 24th.
Waterford police are looking to identify two thieves that snuck into the back of a store and allegedly stole from employees lockers. Officers say that one person distracted employees and then went into the back room to steal from purses and lockers. Authorities have posted photos of the suspects, anyone with information is asked to call police.
The final phase of environmental cleanup is finally underway after multiple delays at the former Norwich Hospital property in Preston. The work is preparing the 393-acre plot along Route 12 and the Thames River to be turned over to the Mohegan Sun for planned non-gaming development. The final cleanup is scheduled to be done by May, 2024.
Governor Dan McKee recently signed legislation that allows advertising for recreational cannabis dispensaries. The State’s Office of Cannabis Regulation will now be able to provide dispensaries with forms, procedures, and requirements for advertising of recreational cannabis.
An Exter man was arrested after he allegedly struck a Connecticut State Police cruiser while under the influence and driving the wrong way on I-95. 83 year old Paul Usenua was arrested early Monday morning in Madison. After getting calls about a wrong-way driver a trooper found and tried to stop the suspect vehicle, which then crashed into the trooper’s cruiser. No injuries were reported.
