The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection said that there was about $23 million in cannabis sales in the State last month. Officials say about half the money came from adult use sales and the other from the medical marijuana market. Officials say this was an increase from last month.
Governor Lamont signed the state budget yesterday after the House of Representatives and Senate approved the proposal last week. The two year $51 billion includes the first income tax reduction since 1996. It also increases funding for schools and pay for those who are incarcerated. The budget goes into effect July 1st.
Old Saybrook police have arrested a person in connection to the death at a nursing home last year. Officers say that 70 year old Stephen Luckett of West Virginia is accused of causing the death of 87 year old Edward Flynn after a fight over the volume of a television at Apple Rehab. Officials say Luckett pushed Flynn causing Flynn to hit his neck.
Police arrested a man accused of robbing and assaulting a woman on North Thames Street in Norwich on Sunday. Officers say that 37 year old Senty Sodam was arrested in connection to the incident. The victim suffered minor facial injuries and declined medical treatment.
Rhode Island is one step closer to decriminalizing what are known as magic mushrooms. Yesterday the House approved legislation that would allow Rhode Islanders to possess up to one ounce of psilocybin or grow magic mushrooms at home for personal use.
