The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden is planning to visit Connecticut this week. He is expected to visit a gun safety summit at the University of Hartford on Friday June 16th. Officials say additional details on Biden’s visit will be released at a later date.
Last week Connecticut Superior Court Judges voted to lower the bail threshold for people accused of a crime while raising the number of people who are eligible for it. This means that starting next year the cash needed for accused criminals to get out on bail of $50,000 or less will be lowered.
Waterford police are looking to identify three men who stole over $4,000 worth of Zyrtec pills from the BJ’s store on Cross Road last month. Officers say that the theft happened May 29th and the three took off in a car reported stolen out of New York City. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
A Ledyard man who fled a home on Red Brook Lane when police arrived to serve a search warrant was found and is facing charges. Anthony Gomez is charged with possession of narcotics, operating a drug factory and more. Samuel Gomez, who police say is a convicted felon and did not flee is accused of possessing a gun.
The Rhode Island House of Representatives recently approved a $14 billion dollar budget. Legislative leaders say it will help address the state’s housing crisis, support business development, and make education funding more equitable, while limiting the use of one-time revenue to one-time expenditures.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said yesterday that they have completed work on Route 6 East where it meets Route 10 in Providence. RIDOT said that they completed work on the section of the highway ahead of schedule, reopening access to Route 10 North to Providence.
